Doesn't this porch just say "come on up"? One of the nice things about Fernandina is that back in the 1800's when the town was built, there were no such things as backyard decks or barbecue pits. Every house had a front porch and people chatted with passersby. The same thing happens in 2007 in Fernandina. I've sometimes thought that our guests have gotten lost and ended up on the wrong porch, only to find out that they've been invited up for a chat by a neighbor. We get a little more like Mayberry every day.
