All of these marsh grasses in the coastal chain of islands in Florida and Georgia turn yellow in the fall and winter months. That's how the Georgia chain of islands became known as the "Golden Isles". We are too but, as we're in Florida - one island down from Georgia - we're not under that moniker. Still golden, just in Florida currency.
