Evenings like this remind me how nice it is to be living in a small town. Felix, a disadvantaged member of our community, was being picked on by "a member of the community" who cited a 1955 law that would prevent this model citizen from peddling his mother's homemade baked goods (as he has for the past 20 years) from his tricycle. The matter came up before the city commission this evening and half of the city showed up to voice their support for Felix. There was a march to city hall, a police escort, a texting campaign and a cadre of Jacksonville news trucks and finally, happy resolution. I'm proud of my community tonight.
