Candyland

It's been very quiet at the Fairbanks House this week (always is after a holiday) so we've taken advantage of the situation by catching up on paperwork, laying low and getting into the spirit of the season by watching Christmas movies. First up was The Grinch (Jim Carrey version this time) followed by The Muppet Christmas Carol and Harry Potter. We've always felt that the Harry Potter films represent the magic and wonder of the season so we always work a few of them into the mix this time of year. And we know that we're not the only ones because we've seen several of the movies show up on television schedules of Christmas films. We'll be working our way through our collection of about thirty (best get on it) including many of the standards but we always like to try obscure little films to add something new each year. Of those, we came across a real gem a couple of years back that's worked its way into our "must see every year" list. It's called Christmas in the Clouds. No chase scenes, no big department store scenes, no marquee actors - just a nice little film. As Casey Stengel said, you could look it up.

And this lovely candy cane village is in the window of Fantastic Fudge on Centre Street. Town's looking mighty tasty...
